The Position

We seek a creative and talented person to be our first point of contact with new co-op organizers. You will be both the recruiter that builds excitement for new organizers to work with us, and the tracker to ensure records and communication are maintained. This is a great opportunity to learn about cooperatives and the natural foods industry, and is ideal for a self-starter who likes creating systems, talking with people by phone, and getting things done without constant direct supervision.

The Outreach and Operations Coordinator will provide support to and work closely with the Executive Director and Director of Programs and Partnerships to manage communications with co-op organizers, development partners, and donors. You will help clients find the resources and assistance they need, track their progress, and help analyze and report on collected data. You will use a variety of communication channels—phone, internet, video conferencing, social media, and live meetings—to serve clients across the United States. Our team works remotely therefore your work must be conducted effectively without the opportunity to meet in person.

  • This is a part-time position based on 20 hours/week. The work schedule is approximately 4 hours per day, Monday through Friday, during business hours that overlap Eastern through Pacific time zones (generally between 10 am and 4 pm Central.) Flexible scheduling is accommodated whenever possible.
  • Compensation is based on actual hours worked. The starting range is $14.00 - $18.00/hour. When more than 20 hours/week are required for special events, compensation will be at the regular rate, or overtime as appropriate.
  • Benefits include paid time off accruing at 6 hours/month (9 days/year), paid holidays, reimbursement for approved expenses and equipment, monthly stipend for home office or co-working space, optional retirement plan, and professional development opportunities.

FCI has helped 70 co-ops open storefronts and serves over 100 startups across the country.  We fulfill our mission to enable the faster and more efficient startup of retail grocery co-ops by supporting community leaders where they live.
